Dolphins NRL Player Oryn Keeley’s Skin Check Reminder:

Why Early Detection Matters

Twelve months ago, Dolphins NRL player Oryn Keeley made a quick stop at the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation’s Mobile Skin Check Truck, a decision that proved to be more important than he could have imagined.

During his visit, our clinical team identified a suspicious lesion, which Oryn promptly had biopsied. The result: a Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC), the most common form of skin cancer. Thanks to early detection and Oryn’s quick action, the carcinoma was treated before it could progress further.

This week, Oryn returned to the Skin Check Truck for his annual full body check, once again setting a strong example of the importance of routine skin surveillance. We’re thrilled to report he’s doing well and continuing to be proactive about his skin health.

Oryn’s story is a powerful reminder that you don’t have to feel unwell for something to be wrong. Regular checks, especially for people who spend a lot of time outdoors, like athletes, are key to catching skin cancers early, when they are most treatable.

We’re incredibly grateful to Oryn for his openness in sharing his experience, and for being a genuine champion both on and off the field. His visit helps inspire others to take sun safety seriously and make skin checks part of their regular health routine.

Your Skin Matters - Get Checked

If you see the Skin Check Truck at an event near you, don’t hesitate to stop by. A few minutes in the chair could make all the difference.

Thank you again, Oryn… we’ll see you next year!
